For those who are fighting and is still fighting…….Sleep and morphine suck. One of the hardest pieces of news to accept is when the doctor says, "Not much is left; only two options: sleep until the body collapses or morphine to ease the pain." Our world is falling apart. I am looking for those who will take the time to read this post to the end. This is a little test, just to see who reads and who shares without reading! Cancer is very invasive and destructive to our bodies. Even after a fight, it's a very long process. Please, in honor of someone who died or is fighting cancer or had cancer, copy and paste. Everyone says, "If you need something, don't hesitate, I'll be there for you." So I'm going for a challenge; I think less than 5 of my friends will put it on their wall. Just copy (don't share). I want to know who I can count on. When you are done, type "done".

Living near an airport is exciting to me, until it’s not!

When I first bought my house my grandchildren, my youngest daughter, Jasmine DeNee, and I would watch an airplane fly over every once in a while while playing outside or laying on a blanket in the backyard.

Here I am, 12 years later, and I still enjoy watching a plane fly over. It doesn’t happen as often as it used to, but it still happens.

Then this morning, I’m sitting in the house, I hear a plane flying over the house, and then, for the first time ever, I hear the wheels as they are released. You know, that loud rubbing or whining sound as the wheels are deployed for landing?

That was a scary moment. Definitely not what you want to hear from inside your home, especially first thing in the morning.

I literally sent up a quick word of prayer. 🙏🏾

Every meaningful harvest begins with intentional choices…what to plant, where to invest your time, what to nurture, and even what to remove so healthy growth can happen.

I’ve been in a planting season.

It may have looked quiet from the outside, but it’s been anything but quiet on the inside.

I’ve been preparing the soil, planting with purpose, and strengthening my foundation.

If you’re in a season of planting, don’t get discouraged because you don’t see fruit yet. Stay faithful to the process. The harvest will come.

The most meaningful growth often happens where no one else can see it.

Grandma’s Corner: Every Family Has A Story

Legacy isn’t just what we leave behind. It’s what we intentionally build while we’re here.

When I think back to my childhood family gatherings, one of the things I remember most is the kitchen.

I remember traveling to Richmond, VA and waking up on Sunday mornings to the smell of baked apples, homemade biscuits, and all the goodness that came from a kitchen full of love. I remember homemade jelly and apple butter. I remember fried chicken. I remember the women in working together to prepare a meal that brought everyone to the table.

I don’t recall every name who was in that kitchen…yet. But I remember the feeling they created.

I remember family.

Today, I find myself on a journey to learn more about the people who came before me…the names, the places, the stories, and the heritage that helped shape who I am.

I want my children and grandchildren to know that their story did not begin with them. They are part of a much bigger story.

Every family has a story. The question is, who will tell yours?

Maybe it starts with a recipe. Maybe it starts with an old photograph. Maybe it starts with a conversation with someone who remembers.

The stories we carry are the ones we have the opportunity to pass on.

Y’all! These gray hairs don’t play. They take over and have a mind of their own, refusing to hold curls.

I didn’t want to put gel in my hair today, so I decided to try…again…to wear my hair out and not pulled back in a ponytail.

This is the most success I’ve had in a few years.

The frizz is real. 😳
