For the past 4 years my husband, CJ Rouse & I have walked many kids to school.
π§οΈ βοΈ βοΈ Rain, snow, or sunshine we always made it to school on time. These kiddos are so strong, as they walk a mile to school! They have created beautiful friendships between all ages starting with 4K to 5th grade.
When our group was small, we did our best to assist the kids who did not have gear. Winter hats, mittens & even rain boots. 𧣠𧀠π₯Ύ
Yet our small group of 4 students grew to over 15 students.
We still wanted to protect their clothes & backpacks, as we remember personally what it was like to sit all day at school in wet clothes. This led to a solution to create rain ponchos out of very large garbage bags. This did work!
We weren't able to protect their socks/shoes as we ALL know each & every one of them were jumping in puddles! π
With the generous donation from last year, we no longer don said garbage bags!
I'm sure you will see us from a mile away with our hot pink rain jackets - to match the one & only Mr. CJ, who has always had a hot pink vest. CJ is a parent liaison with MMSD & the children adore him. So hot pink was a necessity!
Last October, Jess Miller with wrote an excellent article about our Walking School Bus. Check out the 'repost' tab on my Instagram, to view.
Thank you Stark for your impact on the community! I am proud to be part of a team of wonderful & considerate humans. π
