It’s one of the things that drew us to Maggie Valley. Seeing these animals in the park or right off our front porch never gets old.

Elk are returning to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Rangers brought 25 elk to the park in 2001 and 27 elk in 2002 through a reintroduction program. The herd has now grown to over 250 elk.

Did you know that Elks Crossing is Dog Friendly? We even provide a crate, baby gate, bowls, wipes for their paws and treats! This was our pups first visit to the cabin! He was right at home and loved checking everything out! He was so comfy and tired out from all the new smells he took a little nap in the crate!

🌈 There’s Beauty Around Every Corner in the Smokies

Sometimes, the best part of a Smoky Mountain getaway isn’t something you planned to see.

It’s the moment you step outside and realize the mountains have put on a show just for you. 🌄

This beautiful rainbow was captured by one of our guests at Elks Crossing at Wh***ey Ridge, and honestly… this is exactly what we love about the Smokies. ❤️

The changing skies.
The layers of mountains.
The mist rolling through the valleys.
The wildlife you weren’t expecting.
The sunsets that make you stop what you’re doing.
And those little moments of beauty that seem to find you when you least expect them.

One of our favorite things about sharing Elks Crossing with our guests is seeing the Smokies through their eyes. 📸
