Mortgage Myths,

Mortgage myths are keeping would-be buyers on the sidelines, according to a new Veterans United survey.

Nearly half think they need more than 5% down for a conventional loan, 34% believe they need a credit score of 700 or higher, and two-thirds think rates are at an all-time high. In reality, many loan programs accept scores as low as 620, and today's 6% to 7% rates pale next to the record high of 18.6% in October 1981.
