This is why I tell my clients to steer clear of condos if they can. Especially dated ones. You can try and try to do your due diligence on the leadership of the association, the common mechanicals and roof coverings, etc…but the unknowns can wipe your investment out in an instant or turn that cash flowing cream puff into a boat anchor. ⚓️
There are now just six months left before the state-wide deadline for condo buildings to get their mandatory engineering assessments done. In Volusia County, this costs over $100,000 per condo owner at one building.
