When it happened.
A day like countless others that we will never forget.
I had just welcomed my second baby, Ryan, on September 6, 2001. He was in the NICU at Fairfax Hospital, and I was recovering from a C-section. At that moment, I wasn’t at the hospital, I was home in bed, while my husband at the time was taking our firstborn, Ben, to his very first day of preschool.
I had the Today Show on, with Katie Couric. Someone came up to her and whispered something in her ear. She then said, “A plane has hit one of the Twin Towers,” and the broadcast went to that screen.
From that moment, everything became a blur of sadness, fear, and disbelief.
Today, I want to take a moment to remember and honor all those who lost their lives, those who bravely stepped forward to save others, and those who were left behind to carry on without their loved ones.
Sending love, prayers, and strength to all the families who lost someone on that horrific and heartbreaking day.
Hug your people. ❤️
