🔥 Isha Lane Fire Update 🔥
70 acres | 100% contained
While control lines surround the entire fire, pockets of heat inside the fire perimeter create concern of the fire rekindling as leaves continue to fall from the hardwood trees and dry conditions return. Crews plan to conduct a strategic backfiring operation beginning Friday morning to prevent wildfire resurgence and better protect structures in the nearby Isha community and the surrounding natural resources. This operation will take advantage of the moist leaf litter on the forest floor by directing a low intensity fire of the unburned areas within the fire perimeter, eliminating any fuel to feed a rekindled wildfire.
Heavy smoke between Isha Lane and Curtistown Road is likely throughout the day as firefighters conduct the burn. The work is expected to end mid-afternoon.
