Some of the most important conversations in real estate aren’t about the transaction. They’re about the relationship.
I recently joined fellow Compass agents for a panel on “Courageous Conversations,” exploring how we navigate difficult discussions with clients while protecting trust and maintaining professionalism.
One of my biggest takeaways: transparency, honesty and candor shouldn’t feel courageous. They should be the foundation of the client-advisor relationship.
The strongest relationships are built on mutual respect, clear communication, healthy boundaries and a willingness to listen. And sometimes, good judgment means recognizing when that alignment simply isn’t there.
Difficult conversations become a lot easier when expectations are clear from the beginning and when both sides understand the value of a trusted advisory relationship.
Thank you to Compass, our moderator Diane Dwyer, my fellow panelists Lori Buecheler, John Esplana and Jonathan Spencer, and everyone who joined the conversation.
