Grateful for a meaningful 1:1 conversation with Suzan DelBene.

We discussed many of the issues I continue to hear from our communities, including the cost of living, immigration challenges, small businesses, jobs, civic participation, technology and AI, and the importance of creating more opportunities for immigrant and diverse communities to participate in public life.

We also talked about opportunities for Bothell and Legislative District 1, including economic development, federal resources for community projects, and how local and federal leaders can work together to better serve our communities.

One message that especially stayed with me was the importance of bringing people from different backgrounds together, in person, to build relationships, understand one another, and strengthen our communities.

I truly appreciate Congresswoman DelBene taking the time for such an open and thoughtful conversation and for continuing to engage with communities across our district. 🙏

Happy 80th Anniversary of India’s Independence! 🇮🇳

Some evenings remind you that no matter where life takes you, your roots stay with you.

I was honored to celebrate India’s 80th Independence Day at the Consulate General of India in Seattle at the invitation of Consul General Prakash Gupta ji.

As an Indian American serving my local community, I often think about how much India and the United States have in common. Both are vibrant democracies built on the belief that ordinary people can make an extraordinary difference through service, opportunity, and civic engagement.

It was wonderful to celebrate alongside cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, Senator Tina Orwall, Mayor Angela Birney, Mayor Dana Ralph, Srini Gopalan, Anand Eswaran, Dr. C.B. Satpathy Ji, Swami Chidanand Saraswati Ji, and fellow councilmembers Menka Soni, Harini Gokul, and Jugal Thakore.

What I appreciated most was seeing leaders from government, business, sports, and the community gathered in one room. It was a reminder that when we celebrate our heritage while investing in the communities we share, we build stronger neighborhoods and a stronger future for everyone.

I want you to know me beyond a name, a title, or the work you may have seen me do.

I want to share where I come from, the experiences that shaped me, the people who influenced me, and the values I carry with me today.

And I felt the best way to do that was through stories.

So, over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing different chapters from my life. Some are simple memories. Some are important turning points. But each one has played a part in shaping who I am.

My hope is that, as you get to know my story, you’ll also get to know a little more about the person behind it.

And I thought the best place to begin was where so much of who I am started, with family, friendship, and community.
