This past Juneteenth, I wrote a post celebrating my friend and mentor, Minnie Lauderdale, and her impact on my career and life. We never know what the Almighty has in store for us; today, many friends are gathering in The Villages to honor her spirit and celebrate her life.

I wanted to share that post again.

Today I think about the women whose names, in particular, my friend, Minnie Lauderdale; her success and push was so meaningful as I transitioned into the world of real estate during the tough periods 2008 brought. She was a living example of success and whose career showed me I could do this!

I became a real estate agent at 63. By then, I had lived more lives than most. I was a Mom long before my Miami life was unveiled. I lived and breathed the shipping business. Hosted a radio food talk show… Reinvention. None of it was guaranteed. None of it was easy.

Juneteenth is a reminder that freedom, real freedom, is also the freedom to build, to dream, to start over at any age.

I don't take it for granted.

Today, I sit with gratitude. And tomorrow, I get back to work.

It is with deep sadness that I share that my friend, mentor, and co founder of Ladies Who Lunch for NO Reason At All, Minnie Lauderdale, made her transition Saturday night.

Minnie was a bright light in South Florida's world of real estate. She was a leader and consistently a top producer at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty. She retired and moved to The Villages with her loving husband, Dwight Lauderdale. Minnie was suddenly diagnosed with a fatal illness last week.

Minnie and I founded Ladies Who Lunch for NO Reason At All just to catch up, since we didn't see each other often. She came to town to help us celebrate 25 years of just having fun; no other reason but to connect on another level with each other.

My heart hurts. She was connected to so many here, and her family, without a doubt, was Georgia and Gene McLean. As we lift Dwight in love, light and prayer, please send rays of love to her many friends who were her family.
