🌼 5 Tips For Preparing A Beautiful Flower Bed

🌱 Grab your trusty shovel, put on those gardening gloves, and find the perfect spot. We’re going to show you how to prepare a beautiful flower bed.

1. The Right Start
A beautiful flower bed starts with a clean slate. Remove all the rocks, weeds, and roots so your flowers won’t have any competition.

2. Seeds Or Nursery Plants?
If you choose to plant seeds, you’ll want to start them in trays indoors. They are ready to plant in your flower bed once they have sturdy stems and the threat of frost has passed.

3. Edging
Dig a shallow trench around the flower bed and maintain it throughout the season to ensure division between the bed and the lawn.

4. What To Plant
You can even plant ornamental grasses or evergreen shrubs to give your bed year-round interest and structure.

5. Mulching
Mulch is important because it keeps plants moist and helps keep weeds at bay. As helpful as it is, however, it can also be the death of your flowers if not applied correctly.

🔎 Looking for a new home?

📝 Make it easier to find the things you want in a new place by creating a checklist of features you can’t live without.

What Works And What Doesn’t

This section of the checklist gets you thinking about your current home and what makes you happy – or not so much so – about it.

Amount Of Space

Do you have enough space in your current home or is there too much? Does the floor plan suit your lifestyle? What about the bedrooms? Are there enough, or do you need more? Perhaps there’s a special room you’ve never had before, such as a home office, that you’d really like in your new home.

Outdoor Spaces

The outside of your home is just as important as the home itself. In your new home, how much time are you willing to devote to exterior maintenance such as painting, staining, etc.?

The Neighborhood And Surrounding Community

Having good neighbors can make living in your dream home all the better, so don’t ignore this important aspect when searching for the perfect home.

🏠 If you have hardwood floors in your home, you need to know how to clean them properly.

👇 Use these six tips on how to clean hardwood floors to keep your floors beautiful for a long, long time.

1. Sweep Or Dust Daily
Your first line of defense against scratches in the surface of your hardwood floors is dusting with a microfiber cloth every single day.

2. Vacuum And Mop Once A Week
Vacuuming and mopping helps remove hard-to-reach dirt in corners and crevices.

3. Polish Floors Once Every Couple Of Months
Polishing your hardwood floor not only cleans the surface, but it also refreshes and renews its protective top layer.

4. Refinish Every 3 To 5 Years
Refinishing the floor takes away all of its old sealant and stain and replaces them with fresh coats so the floor looks as good as new.

5. Use The Right Tools And Cleaning Agents For The Job
When it comes to the type of cleaners to use on your hardwood floors, avoid water, vinegar, soap-based and wax cleaners and steam machines.

6. Protect Your Floors
Put down long area rugs in high-traffic areas, but avoid using ones with rubber or non-skid backing as they trap moisture underneath.

💖 6 tips for making your home a healthier place

1. Balance social and private spots
Studies suggest that the key to happiness resides in the strong bonds we form with family and friends.

2. Have a dedicated workspace
Today’s digital world allows many of us to work from home. Unfortunately, most people who do telecommute don’t have a dedicated workspace.

3. Let natural light in
Research shows that a flood of natural light instantly improves mood and maintains good health. Adding natural light is relatively easy.

4. Heat your home properly
A home that’s heated properly can have a dramatic impact on your health and your wallet. Cold, drafty, poorly heated rooms can be uncomfortable and weaken your immune system.

5. Reduce noise levels
Too much noise can have devastating consequences on our health and wellbeing.

6. Eliminate clutter
Cutting down on clutter in every room of your home can greatly reduce stress. Implement storage space to organize belongings and get rid of things you no longer need or use.

💡 The right lighting makes all the difference in how your home looks and feels.

👇 Here’s why good lighting in your home is important.

1. The Right Lighting Can Make Your Space Look Bigger
Lots of natural light will help make a space feel bigger, but if you don’t have a lot of windows, you can mimic the same effect with LED lighting.

2. Set The Mood With Lighting
Different types of lighting give off different vibes.

3. Lighting Can Make Your Space Feel Warm And Cozy
The right type of lighting can make your space feel warm and cozy.

4. The Right Lighting Can Save You Money
There are a host of energy-efficient bulbs on the market for all the different types of fixtures out there, and although you’ll pay a little more upfront for these bulbs, over time, they save you plenty on your energy bills and replacement costs.

🏡 Are you thinking about adding a screen porch to your home?

🌻 Use these tips to help you plan, design, and decorate your new outdoor oasis.

1. Screen Porch Location
Where you build your screen porch will determine how much you enjoy it. Other things to think about in terms of location are privacy and convenience.

2. Designing A Screen Porch
Consider how you’ll use it. Will it just be a lounging area, or will you use it to dine in as well? Be sure to make it big enough to accommodate your planned usage.

3. Screen Porch Windows
The ideal screen porch is open on at least three sides. This increases the feeling of being outdoors. Screen room windows that can be taken in and out are the best option for getting the most use out of the space.

4. Screen Porch Decorating
If it’s meant for entertaining, you’ll need plenty of comfortable seating and a few side tables for placing drinks and snacks on. If you’re using it to dine in, be sure there’s room for a table and chairs. Don’t forget to add an area rug, accent pillows, and a comfy throw to add warmth and coziness to the room.

5. Screen Porch Building Materials
Be sure to do some comparison shopping when purchasing materials to get the best quality materials at the best prices possible.
