It’s time for our weekly point of safety…

Has anyone heard yet… The FIFA World Cup is here in Atlanta. You know, some small soccer tournament, you may have heard about. Just kidding, definitely NOT small.

On a serious note, with the FIFA World Cup comes increased traffic, larger crowds, and visitors from around the globe to the Atlanta area over the next month; situational awareness is more important than ever for those working in the field.

Remember, whether you're traveling between job sites, meeting clients, or working near event venues, take a moment to stay alert to your surroundings. Plan for traffic delays, minimize distractions, secure company equipment, and remain aware of pedestrian and vehicle activity in crowded areas. If working remotely is not an option and you have to travel into the city, you can go to the World Cup Atlanta 2026 website for a full list of scheduled events, including FIFA Fan Festivals, games, and more.

A few extra seconds of awareness can help prevent accidents, protect property, and keep everyone safe.

Situational Awareness: See It. Assess It. Avoid It. Stay Safe.

This week’s Point of Safety serves as an important reminder during National Safety Month.

Tragically, in just the first week of June, two roadside workers lost their lives after being struck by vehicles in metro Atlanta. These incidents are a sobering reminder that space is safety and that distracted driving can have devastating consequences.

We encourage everyone to do their part to protect those who work along our roadways:

Drive hands-free and eliminate distractions behind the wheel.
Slow down and stay alert when approaching work zones.
Give roadside workers the space they need to perform their jobs safely.

Every worker deserves to return home to their family at the end of the day. A few extra moments of attention and caution can save lives.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let's make every mile a safer one.

🚨 Weekly Point of Safety: Tick Bite Prevention 🚨

As temperatures rise and outdoor activities increase, so does the risk of tick exposure. Recent reports indicate that weekly emergency room visits related to tick bites are higher than usual, making this an important reminder for all of us.

The best protection during tick season is prevention. If you discover an attached tick, remove it as soon as possible—don't wait to seek medical care. Removing a tick within 24 hours can significantly reduce the risk of contracting tick-borne illnesses.

Here are a few simple ways to help protect yourself:

✅ Use EPA-registered insect repellent
✅ Wear permethrin-treated clothing when appropriate
✅ Perform thorough tick checks after spending time outdoors
✅ Remove attached ticks promptly and safely

One of the easiest and safest tools for tick removal is a tick key, which can be purchased online for less than $10.

For additional information and resources, visit the CDC's guidance on tick bite prevention and recent trends in tick-related ER visits:

Stay aware, stay protected, and help keep yourself and those around you safe this season.

Weekly Point of Safety:

Now that Memorial Day has passed, traffic on local lakes and waterways will continue to increase. Before heading out on the water, always check weather conditions and forecasts to help ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.

Remember that operating a boat under the influence of alcohol is not only dangerous — it is illegal. Stay alert, make responsible decisions, and always operate your boat at safe speeds for current water and traffic conditions.

Before leaving the dock, double-check that you have the proper number and correct sizes of life jackets for everyone on board. Taking a few extra minutes to prepare can help keep everyone safe while enjoying time on the water.

What a great way to kick off the week yesterday by supporting the Pipeliner’s Club of Atlanta at their annual golf tournament at Berkeley Hills Country Club! ⛳

From the beautiful weather to the golfers, event organizers, and fellow vendors, everything came together perfectly — as always. Events like these are a great reminder of how valuable it is to step away from the office, spend time building relationships, and connect with others across the industry. It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces while also making new connections along the way.

A big thank you to the SinglePoint golf team — Vi Bean, Gary Clayton, Steve Clark, and Reeves Stribling — for representing us on the course and making it a great day!

And an extra shoutout to our two amazing ladies who kept everyone refreshed while sharing snacks, drinks, and marketing materials at our live hole sponsor. We’re already looking forward to next year!

Weekly Point of Safety:

As temperatures continue to rise across Georgia, snake activity is increasing — especially around job sites, wooded areas, tall grass, and materials left undisturbed for long periods. This week’s Point of Safety is a reminder to stay alert and aware of your surroundings while working outdoors. Most snakes are not aggressive, but they will defend themselves if startled or threatened.

Before reaching into brush, debris piles, storage areas, or under equipment, take a moment to visually inspect the area first. Wear proper PPE, including boots and gloves, and avoid stepping over logs or blindly placing your hands where visibility is limited. If a snake is spotted, do not attempt to handle or remove it yourself. Give it space and notify the appropriate personnel if necessary.

Safety starts with awareness. A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a serious injury and help ensure everyone makes it home safely at the end of the day. Stay aware, stay prepared, and stay safe this snake season.
