🏆 A VERY SPECIAL 2026 BEST OF THE BEST HONOR! 🏆

For the second year, Sassy Chicks Real Estate Group is proud to present an Honorary Best of the Best Award to an individual who helps make Union County a better place to live.

This year, we are so excited to recognize Michael Wayne O'Neill! 🎉❤️

Michael is a Wingate University graduate with a degree in Communications/Sports Media and works as a reporter for The Enquirer-Journal, where he helps tell the stories of our local businesses, athletes, schools, events and the wonderful people who make up Union County.

Friends and family have even affectionately called Michael “Mister Union County”—and we think that makes him a pretty perfect choice for this honor!

But what makes Michael’s story even more special is his personal journey. As a child, Michael experienced significant speech and communication delays and didn't truly find his voice until around the age of eight. He went on to discover a passion for broadcasting and sports announcing, earn his degree in communications, and build a career centered around something that was once so difficult for him—using his voice to tell the stories of others.

What an incredible reminder of how far determination, passion and perseverance can take you. ❤️

Today, Michael has written thousands of articles and continues to shine a spotlight on the people, businesses, schools and athletes who make our community special.

It is time to nominate all of your favorite restaurants here in Union County. The restaurant has to be physically located within the county and must be locally owned. You can nominate your favorites each day through Saturday, August 8th and then voting will begin. Winners will be announced Monday, August 17th. Good luck to all our our Union County Restaurants!
