Big win for Alabama property owners!

The Alabama Property Protection Act (SB 292) has officially been signed into law, bringing stronger protections against title fraud. This is something I’m really passionate about because protecting your home goes far beyond just buying or selling.

Here’s what this means for you:

• Identity verification is now required during key parts of the transaction process
• Stronger criminal penalties for anyone attempting property fraud
• A new recovery fund to help victims
• Faster legal processes to restore ownership if fraud occurs
• Optional alerts so you can be notified if documents are filed against your property

Title fraud often targets vacant land, investment properties, and mortgage-free homes, especially in rural areas. Many homeowners don’t even realize it’s happening until it’s too late.

This new law is a big step in the right direction to protect homeowners across Alabama.
