Solar eclipse earlier this month and Thursday night into Friday a LUNAR eclipse!

{PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE THURSDAY NIGHT!

Myrtle Beach has a spectacular partial lunar eclipse coming up Thursday night into early Friday morning. This one is almost total, with about 96% of the Moon passing into Earth’s dark shadow. At maximum eclipse, most of the Moon should take on a deep reddish-orange or copper color, with only a thin portion remaining brightly illuminated.

Key times for our area:

10:33 PM Thursday: Partial eclipse begins
12:12 AM Friday: Maximum eclipse
1:51 AM: Partial eclipse ends

The best viewing should be roughly 11:30 PM–12:45 AM. While significant cloud cover is possible at times, the good news is that lunar eclipses unfold slowly. The partial phase lasts more than three hours, so even with clouds around, there should be plenty of opportunities for breaks in the clouds and some great views. No telescope or special glasses are needed.

School's back in session, and that means buses are back on the road!

Do you know when to stop for a school bus? If you're driving on a two-lane road, both lanes of travel must come to a complete stop. If you're driving on a four-lane road, only the vehicles traveling in the same direction as the bus must stop.

At an intersection, all lanes of travel must stop until the school bus begins moving.

Help keep our students safe - stop for school buses!
