Everyone is talking about interest rates… but people are still buying homes. And no, it’s not just new construction. 🏡

If you’re considering a resale home, here are two things you may want to know:

You may be able to negotiate seller concessions.

For example, instead of asking for $10,000 off a $350,000 home, you could potentially negotiate the $350,000 purchase price and ask for $10,000 in seller concessions to help with closing costs and/or a rate buydown.

That could potentially make a bigger difference to your monthly payment than simply reducing the purchase price.

And what about a home warranty?

I hear buyers mention the warranties that often come with new construction, but home warranties can also be negotiated with an offer on a resale home or purchased by the buyer.

When we bought our first resale home, we purchased one and ended up using it several times. For us, it was absolutely worth it!

The point? Don’t compare new construction and resale based on price and interest rate alone. Look at the whole deal.

There may be options you haven’t considered yet.

Talk with your lender and REALTOR® about what could make sense for your specific situation.
