Myrtle Beach City Council has approved the first reading of an ordinance for a proposed $150 million surf park and hospitality development at the former Palace Theater site near Broadway at the Beach.

An economic impact study estimates the development could attract nearly 365,000 visitors annually and generate more than $3 million in annual revenue for the city.

The project still requires a second reading before the ordinance can take effect, but it could be an interesting addition to the Grand Strand’s tourism landscape. 🌴
