Twenty-five years ago today, our nation changed forever.
First and foremost, today we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001. May God hold each of them in the palm of His hand, and may He continue to bless and comfort the families who have carried that loss for the past twenty-five years.
We honor the heroes who answered the call that day. The firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, first responders, and everyday Americans who ran toward danger to help people they had never met. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Here at home, September 11th has a special meaning in a community so deeply connected to our military. Hurlburt Field, Eglin, Whiting Field, and the many military families throughout Northwest Florida are part of who we are. So many of our neighbors, friends, clients, and family members served, deployed, waited at home for someone they loved, or supported the missions that followed 9/11.
September 11th also hits close to home for me as a New Yorker. Back home, nearly every friend and family member I know has a connection to someone who was directly affected by the attacks on the Twin Towers. For so many New Yorkers, it wasn't something we simply watched happen. It touched our families, our friends, and our communities.
We also remember what happened in the days that followed. Americans came together. We checked on our neighbors. We thanked our first responders. We stood behind our military. We flew our flag proudly. For a time, the things that divided us didn't seem nearly as important as the things we shared.
Twenty-five years later, may we never forget those we lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, the service members who answered the call, the families who sacrificed alongside them, and the strength we found in one another.
From all of us at Navarre Real Estate Source, to our first responders, our military families, our veterans, our active-duty service members, and especially to the families who lost someone they loved, today we remember with you.
We will never forget.
