📈Central Ohio recorded 2,749 closed home sales in August, a 2.5% decline from the same month last year, while the region’s housing inventory climbed to its highest August level in recent years.
The inventory of homes for sale reached 6,124, up 6.8% from August 2025. Months of inventory increased from 2.3 to 2.4, giving buyers more options.
“August sales slowed slightly, but the broader picture remains positive. Year-to-date sales are ahead of last year, inventory is growing, and home values continue to hold,” said 2026 Columbus REALTORS® President Gloria Alonso Cannon.

📈Across the Columbus & Central Ohio Regional MLS footprint, closed sales rose 6.3% year over year to 3,083, while the median sales price climbed 2.3% to $350,000. Year to date, closed sales are up 3.0% and the median sales price has risen 4.4% compared to the same period in 2025.

Closed sales climbed 7.8% year over year in May, and inventory continued to expand, rising 8.2% compared to the same period last year, according to the latest housing statistics from the Columbus & Central Ohio Regional Multiple Listing Service.

“The jump in sales this May is a strong signal that central Ohio buyers are active and ready,” said Columbus REALTORS® President Gloria Alonso Cannon. “As we head into the heart of summer selling season, this momentum is exactly what we want to see. The market is moving, and that's great news for buyers and sellers.”

OHFA’s limited-time rate sale may be over, but opportunities for first-time homebuyers are still here.
