We would also like to recognize our Board President, Cookie Miller, who was unable to attend. Cookie was truly heartbroken to miss such an important occasion and to be absent for this exciting milestone. We know she was with us in spirit and shares in the enthusiasm and optimism for the future of West Pasco Hernando Realtors.

Florida Legislature sends property tax proposal to voters!

Lawmakers approved a proposed constitutional amendment to reshape Florida’s property tax system, but voters will have the final say in November. Because HJR 1-F would change the state Constitution, it needs more than 60% voter approval to take effect.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
• If passed, eligible Florida homeowners would receive a $150,000 homestead exemption for non-school property taxes beginning in 2027, increasing to $250,000 in 2028 and indexed to inflation thereafter.

• The proposal would also reduce the annual assessment cap on non-homestead properties from 10% to 5%, require local governments to prioritize core services with remaining property tax revenues and establish a framework for considering additional property tax reductions in the future.

Lawmakers approve a constitutional amendment that seeks to reshape Florida's property tax system. It must be approved by Florida voters during the November general election.

This Memorial Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to our Community Impact Committee Chair, Gena Taylor, for organizing and dedicating her time to honor our fallen heroes by placing flags on their graves. 🇺🇸

Because of Gena’s leadership and commitment to service, along with the incredible support of 42 local ROTC cadets, this meaningful tradition continues to remind us of the sacrifices made for our freedoms.

Thank you, Gena, for your passion, heart for the community, and for ensuring these heroes are remembered and honored. And thank you to the ROTC cadets who stepped up to serve with respect and pride.

Their efforts made a difference — and their acts of remembrance will not go unnoticed.
