Some time ago, I was hired by a coop on the Upper East Side to sell a former medical space on the first floor of their building. To say it was in rough shape is generous, and that was the most easily fixed problem it had. It was a very difficult sale. Over and over I was urged to cut my losses and walk away, but something in me could not let go. I knew the buyer was out there. In a funny twist, I did actually give up the listing, but just a few days later I got an email from this guy who wanted to see it. We talked and I knew he was the needle in the haystack I had been searching for. I took the listing back and he did indeed buy the space. Fast forward a year, and I had the great pleasure last night to go and see his vision realized. I was completely blown away. And so incredibly happy to know that I had been right. There was a lid for this pot, and the decrepit old medical space could, in fact, be reborn. Stories like this really make me love my job.

Meanwhile, back in New York… They say when you want business to pick up you should plan a vacation. I swear it happens every time. Who said anything about a summer slowdown? So happy for my buyers and my two sellers, and so incredibly grateful that I can celebrate with champagne (and a sword!) on the other side of the world while my amazing co-pilot, Matt Salomon runs the show in NYC.

Holy Gen X Nostalgia, Batman! No trip to Bentonville is complete without a trip to the original Walton’s Five and Dime, a true trip down memory lane. My sister grabbed a few items to give me for my birthday. I remember all of these except for the Teaberry gum, which I can’t remember, but my sister is quite a bit older than me, so it makes sense that she remembers things that I don’t. Thanks, Tracey!
