I Look North with much optimism, appreciation and gratitude toward the physicians and staff at Northwell Health who have cared for me over this year and have been instrumental in my treatment and well-being. Giving a big shout out to Dr. Karen Kostroff, Dr. Ruby Sharma and Dr. Peter Korn who continue to be my dream team. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is Oct.1-31st and although the show of support last only 31 days as it comes to a close today, the struggle is real each and every day for those effected and for the dedicated physicians who support their patients. So let's keep hope alive beyond the month of October to continually work towards finding a cure and to end the inequities in screening and treatment particularly amongst African American Women, like myself, who are 41% more likely to die even though their incident rates are similar or lower than most White Women due to not being diagnosed early enough as well as having less access to quality treatment. So, for all of those who have given support emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually a BIG THANK YOU. And to all my family and friends who check on me, send prayers and well wishes thank you for all the loveβ€οΈ and support. Cancer is truly a word, not a sentence. It will never define me. I have never been afraid π± of dying my biggest fear is not living. Each day I get now is a gift π, and I tear through the day with much anticipation and gratitude like a child opening a gift on Christmas morning so excited to see what awaits me. I AM STILL HERE. I look North for a reason because each day I give thanks to God for yet another day...
