We recently attended the new guideline launch party hosted by Alliance. As members of the community, we are excited to put the principles in the Water Edge Design Guildelines framework and rating system into daily practice!

We were also thrilled to hear our friend and colleague Meyer of Local Office Landscape Architecture share his ideas at the event.

Last week, engineers from Insight Civil Engineering, PLLC volunteered at www.resilientpowerpr.org to design and deploy solar ☀️ plus battery storage systems of various sizes. This is a targeted effort to rehabilitate communities devastated by hurricanes storm damage in Puerto Rico through deployment of sustainable clean power solutions. 🌏

These compact systems will improve long-term disaster preparedness at the community level by delivering power for basic needs at approximately 20 pre-selected sites. By installing these stand-alone solar systems , residents will have the ability to charge personal electronic devices, operate tools, filter water and reconnect communities to essential services and residents to one another during this difficult recovery period.

Technicians will teach local residents to operate and maintain these systems and will educate them about the longstanding benefits of clean distributed energy resources. 👷‍♂️

The Coastal Marine Resource Center is a nonprofit focused on issues of social and environmental justice in vulnerable coastal communities throughout the United States.
