Today is 9/11. The day that changed New York forever.

I was not born here. But the connection I hold with this city is unlike anything I have with any other place I have called home.

And the memory of that day never leaves you. It never does.

But what stays with me most wasn’t the devastation.

It was the silence that followed. And then — the people.

Strangers holding each other on street corners. First responders running toward what everyone else was running from. A city that never sleeps going completely still — and then, slowly, choosing to get back up.

That is the New York I fell in love with. Not the skyline, not the energy, not the pace — though I love all of that too. But the spirit of a place that has been tested in the most unimaginable way and refused to be broken.

Twenty five years later, I still think about that. Every single September 11th.

To the families who lost someone — you are in my heart today and always.

To New York — thank you for teaching me what resilience truly means.

We remember. Always. 🕯️🇺🇸
