Back in 2001, 9/11 brought an unexpected career change. Once upon a time, I ran an online auction site offering celebrity experiences where 100% of the proceeds went to charities, the likes of Make a Wish Foundation, Rainforest and The ALS Association. I LOVED my job. I even had an job interview that very morning and was about to leave my home when the first plane struck.
It was during this time that all our lives changed in an instant, in NY and elsewhere . The only charity we were focused on was the Victims Foundation and my dream job was gone overnight, but I had no time to waste.
I didn't know what I was going to do but I had the time and decided to get my Real Estate license,. As a mom of two small children I thought it would be the most flexible, eventhough I had to give up my Sundays.
Before I knew it, this was my full-time job. I thoroughly enjoyed it more than I ever expected! I loved working with people who were excitedly looking for their new homes.
Fast forward 23 years I continue to learn new ways to structure my deals and hone my craft even more, bringing my clients maximum value. No matter how much technology is out there Real Estate has so many touch points that can only be done between humans, so take that Chat GPT!
Most of my clients are like extended family. In some instances I've helped both parents and their kids, met them when they were single and are now married with their own children. I continue to give a percentage of my sales to charity, because at my core it's still important for me to give back.
It continues to be a joy and that's "Why Real Estate".
