In loving memory of my Bubbe, Ina 🤍
My Bubbe, Ina, was born on November 22, 1932, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, into a family shaped by courage and deep Jewish roots. Her story began even earlier, in Trashkun, Lithuania, where her mother, Fannie Covitz, was born before emigrating to America as a young girl in 1912. Her father, David Melamed, was born in Budzyn, Poland, and together they built a life grounded in hard work and tradition.
My Bubbe carried that legacy gently. She moved through life with steadiness, devotion, and a deep love of her family.
She loved deeply- first with Aaron Kornetsky (my namesake), and later with Pinhas Hillel Langermann- and through every chapter, my Bubbe remained rooted in who she was and where she came from. She was the bridge between generations.
My Bubbe and I were close. I think back fondly to our visits to the Public Garden or the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and our Shabbas and Holiday FaceTimes.
It’s weird to write like this, about this, on Instagram. Truly. A little odd, no? But we use this as a means of remembering milestones: a digital bookmark, a memory bank.
Ina was a fighter, battling cancer for many of her later years, and she lived a full and beautiful life and recently became a Great Grandmother.
As she always said, “take care of yourself.”
May her memory be a blessing. 💙 BD’H
