Dear Knicks,
I’ve lived here my whole life. Been a Knicks fan my whole life. And I’ve never seen anything like this. This championship was bigger than basketball. It was the energy, the identity, the way the whole city showed up.
After every win this city turned into a concrete carnival. And yes, New Yorkers are crazy. New York will always be a city with the good and bad and it will teach that to anyone that lives here. But, the passion is real, and so is the love underneath it.
Game 4. Sitting there, close enough to feel everything. One of those rare times you realize how lucky you are to be a part of history.
Then, Knicks win it all. Pure chaos everywhere. Felt like living inside a Renaissance painting, Kermesse, Bacchanalia.
And then the parade… we thought we did it right. Left at 6am, walked down from Union Square. Still missed it. Packed out. No way in. But we stayed. We kept moving, trying every street, every angle. Ended up downtown with everyone else who didn’t make it in. And honestly, it didn’t matter. That became our section. Our moment. Our way of being part of it.
Because that’s this city.
Sometimes you’re in the front row. Sometimes you’re in the nosebleeds. Sometimes you’re on the subway, sometimes in a cab or a Rolls Royce, but in this city we’re all in the same boat, just different seats.
Forever a Knick. Forever New York.
