Curated Art/Architecture narratives in the new Princeton University Art Museum: Grand center stair hall built with niche that magically fit the Frank Stella ! Nick Cave’s “soundsuit “ juxtaposed with African shields. The inspiring surprise was the beautifully curated “Willem de Kooning - The Breakthrough Years” … seminal dance on the border of figure and abstraction leading the postwar Avant-Garde……. Quite an achievement for a University museum. Also great to see longtime friend Peter Paine and lunch with classmates in the museum restaurant!. Of course it was incredible to see Warhol’s “Marilyn” (shown alongside iconic Medieval stained glass) as well as Monet Giverny ( mounted on period appropriate damask) and Neo- Assyrian relief sculpture!
