Even after 25 years, I still look for, and expect to see, them. Our Manhattan skyline doesn’t seem quite right or whole without those iconic, gleaming beacons of shining silver steel and glass. 9/11 is, and will always be, such an incredibly sad day of remembrance.

For those of us who were here in NYC on that fateful day, it is a day that is seared in our memories forever. The seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and months that followed these heinous attacks were sad and surreal beyond words.

Yet, the outpouring of love and support from all over the world, the instant bond we all felt in our shared grief, horror and shock was remarkable. People came from all over the USA and other parts of the world to help. And, just about everyone in the world became an instant New Yorker.

We will always honor, and never forget, the magnificent heroism and unbelievably selfless courage of so many brave human beings. People who charged into harm’s way to save others -- not just our amazing firemen, police officers, EMT workers – but, so many beautiful human beings, who showed up to work on an average day and rose to the occasion in spectacular, super-human ways.
