Tonight's is July's , named for the time of year when young male deer (bucks) are growing their new, velvet-covered antlers—a traditional seasonal name that symbolizes growth and renewal.

The Moon reached its moment of peak fullness at 10:36 a.m. EDT today, but it will still appear completely full to the eye tonight. In fact, the best time to enjoy it is shortly after sunset, when it rises in the eastern to southeastern sky. Because it's low on the horizon, it may look unusually large and golden-orange due to the well-known "Moon Illusion" and the way Earth's atmosphere scatters light.

Tonight also offers a bonus for skywatchers:
Venus is visible after sunset.
Saturn, Mars, and Mercury can also be spotted, creating a small "planet parade" across the sky if conditions are clear.
Space
If you're in Manhattan, try to find a spot with a clear view toward the east or southeast—the waterfronts along the East River, elevated viewpoints, or rooftops with an unobstructed horizon will give you the best chance to see the Moon as it rises.
Enjoy the view—it should be one of the brightest and most beautiful full moons of the summer.
