A Ukrainian cultural festival takes over Silver Spring this weekend, running Friday through Sunday at 15100 New Hampshire Ave.

Get ready for live music and dance from more than 10 bands and ensembles, headlined by the 2022 Eurovision winners, Kalush Orchestra!

Dig into an authentic Ukrainian kitchen serving up varenyky, borshch, holubtsi, and more, then head to the b**r garden for Ukrainian b**rs and late-night dancing under the stars. There's a free kids zone for the little ones and a bazaar packed with 30+ vendors selling embroidery, ceramics, and crafts!

Saturday runs 11 am–9 pm, Sunday 11 am–dusk. Admission is $20 for a weekend pass covering both days, or $15 for Sunday only. Under 21 gets in free.

The Small Press Expo returns this weekend at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel, just down the road from Grosvenor Park II. Saturday runs 11 am–7 pm, and Sunday noon–6 pm.

Now in its 31st year, this nonprofit festival celebrates independent comics and graphic novels, connecting the public directly with the creators. More than 450 artists and 270 exhibitor tables fill the floor, alongside 20-plus panels and 18 workshops. Unlike other comic conventions, SPX keeps retailers out entirely, so it's just creators and publishers selling and talking directly with fans!

Two-day admission is $32.49, or grab single-day tickets for $21.99 (Saturday) or $16.74 (Sunday).

The 55th annual Labor Day Art Show kicks off tonight at Glen Echo Park's historic Spanish Ballroom, with an opening reception at 7 pm. The show features work from more than 400 DC-area artists across painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, photography, and more!

The Red Line construction is behind us, and Wisconsin Avenue is getting back to normal. The Maryland State Highway Administration begins removing the temporary bus-only lanes on Labor Day, September 7, opening them back up to all vehicle traffic.

Overnight crews will be out through September 11 restriping the road and restoring on-street parking that was set aside during construction.

If you relied on the bus lanes to get around the shutdown this summer, thank you for bearing with the detours!

The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair wraps up this Saturday, August 22, at the fairgrounds in Gaithersburg. Rides, farm animals, food vendors, and live entertainment, with this year's theme celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

Kids 11 and under get in free, and free shuttle service runs from Montgomery College's Rockville and Germantown campuses.
