Things HGTV Forgot to Mention About Buying a House 🏡😂
HGTV:
“We’ll knock down this wall, add a waterfall island, and be done by next Thursday.”
Real life:
“The contractor is booked until September.”
HGTV forgot to mention:
• The house hunt starts with excitement and ends with you having strong opinions about cabinet hardware.
• You’ll walk through 27 houses and somehow remember only the weird one with the carpeted bathroom.
• The perfect house will always be $25,000 over your budget.
• You’ll spend hours discussing things you never cared about before:
* Water pressure
* Roof age
* Foundation reports
* Which direction the backyard faces
• Closing day doesn’t magically turn you into a handyman.
• Owning a home means you’ll eventually spend an entire Saturday at a hardware store for one item.
• Every project costs more and takes longer than expected.
• You’ll become emotionally attached to houses that you’ve only known for 15 minutes.
• Your Pinterest board and your actual budget may not be on speaking terms.
• The first thing you’ll notice after moving in is something you somehow missed during every showing.
The truth is, buying a home isn’t just about finding the perfect house.
It’s about finding the right house, in the right location, at the right price, for the life you’re living right now.
And sometimes that’s even better than what HGTV promised. 😉
