KOCO-5 in Oklahoma City has a news story that makes me wonder if they have anyone who actually researches their stories before airing them.

The story is about the Northwest Expressway-May Avenue bridge, which is being replaced with a “Diverging Diamond” design that actually has cars driving on the left side of the road through the interchange.

The KOCO reporter called the interchange the “first of its kind in Oklahoma.” Problem is, I had heard of that exact type of interchange before. In fact, I was certain I had DRIVEN on one. So I Googled it.

Sure enough, in October 2025, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation announced it was building a DDI at the Kilpatrick Turnpike and Western.

In addition, construction is already underway at U.S. 75 and West 81st Street in Tulsa.

But wait, it gets worse: Previous DDIs ALREADY CONSTRUCTED include one at I-35 and SH-9W (Norman-Goldsby), U.S. 169/Creek Turnpike and Memorial Drive (Tulsa) and I-40 and SH-6 (Elk City).
