Nobody commutes on a Saturday. So why does every relocation house hunting trip happen on one?

You don't. You saw the version of it that doesn't exist on a workday.
Around here the drive isn't about how many miles. It's about which side of a corridor you're on.

Fix is simple. Stay one extra day. Drive from the neighborhood you like to the office you'll actually report to, once at 7:50am and once at 5:40pm. That's it. One hour, and it will change your list.

Things that only make sense in the Triangle.

One inch of snow shuts the whole region down and we will not be apologizing for it. Fourteen local coffee shops, all of which you personally keep in business. A backroad "shortcut" that adds ten minutes and is worth every one of them. A dragon on the lake, because of course.
