We are proud members of the African American Chamber and able to listen in on a debriefing of the current legislative session at yesterday's Coffee & Commerce. A few of the current discussions that are vital to our industry:
• Proposed Property Tax Changes:
Year 1: $150,000 exemption
Year 2: $250,000 exemption
• Potential Impact on Local Services:
Roads
Police
Fire Rescue
After-school programs
Other public services
• Questions Raised:
Is it a tax break or a tax shift?
Could millage rates increase?
Could sales taxes increase?
What's the effect on commercial and investment properties?
📌 The property tax proposal will not be voted on until November.
🗳️ Local elections are in August.
