There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Florida's proposed property tax relief amendment. If approved by voters in November 2026, the homestead exemption for qualifying Florida homeowners would increase from the current $50,000 to $150,000 on January 1, 2027, and then increase again to $250,000 on January 1, 2028 for non-school property taxes.

The proposal is designed to provide significant tax relief for homeowners who have established Florida residency by December 31, 2026. �
