The Brooks Bridge nightmare in Fort Walton Beach? It’s finally getting fixed

Fort Walton Beach - the Brooks Bridge project is real and moving. FDOT’s $171 million plan replaces the old four-lane bridge over the Santa Rosa Sound with TWO parallel bridges, six lanes total, 10-foot shoulders, and a 12-foot shared path for walkers and bikes. The new westbound span is already up and Brooks Street just reopened to two-way traffic.
