September is the perfect time to give your home a checkup.

As summer fades and cooler mornings arrive, your home can start revealing little problems that were easy to overlook during warm weather.

And when it comes to home maintenance, catching the small things early can help prevent them from becoming expensive repairs later.

🏡 Your Early-Fall Home Checkup:

🍂 LOOK UP — Roof & Gutters
Check from the ground for damaged or missing shingles, loose flashing and signs of wear. Clear leaves and debris from gutters and make sure downspouts are carrying water away from the foundation.

🔥 TURN ON THE HEAT BEFORE YOU NEED IT
Don’t wait for the first freezing night! Test your furnace or heat pump now. Listen for unusual noises, notice any strange odors or uneven heating, and consider scheduling your annual HVAC service.

🪟 CHECK FOR SNEAKY DRAFTS
Cool September mornings make drafts easier to notice. Check around windows and exterior doors for worn weatherstripping, deteriorating caulk or gaps where conditioned air may be escaping.

💧 FOLLOW THE WATER
After a good rain, take a walk around your house. Water pooling near the foundation, clogged gutters or soil sloping toward the house can be warning signs that drainage needs attention.

The 2026 Buckeye season kicks off September 5 at home against Ball State, followed by a huge road game at Texas. From there, the schedule brings plenty of excitement—including Oregon coming to the Shoe November 7 and, of course, THE GAME against Michigan on November 28.

Compensation is negotiable and is not set by law. Be sure to review the agreement carefully with your real estate professional and ask questions about anything you do not understand.

Before we start touring homes together, we’ve already discussed the details of our working relationship so you can move forward informed and confident.

Agreement requirements and terms can vary depending on the type of services provided and applicable state or local law.
