🪁 Fly It Port A's 2026 Fall Kite Fest WEATHER & TIDE UPDATE 🪁
The big weekend is almost here, and we wanted to give everyone a heads-up about what Mother Nature may have in store. The good news? We are NOT canceling the festival. We’re still planning on a full weekend of kite flying, kiters, giveaways, and fun.
Here’s what we’re watching:
🌬️ Saturday: The wind is looking pretty light through the morning and early afternoon, with better conditions expected later in the day. That means the big kites may not get up in the air until later Saturday. We’re hopeful the wind will cooperate, and the kiters will be ready to take advantage of it when it does.
🌊 Tides: There is a possibility of higher-than-normal tides this weekend. If you’re planning to camp on the beach, please keep the tide conditions in mind when choosing where to set up.
📢 City Advisory: We’ll also be sharing the City's advisory in the comments so everyone has the latest information. Keep in mind that the advisory is addressing an area south of our designated kite-flying zone.
🪁 Friday & Sunday: The wind is currently looking much more promising for kite flying on Friday and Sunday, as long as the tides don’t interfere with the beach area.
And the kiters are already arriving in Port Aransas! They’ll be out there throughout the weekend and will do their best to fly whenever conditions are safe and allow. You may see kites popping up at different times throughout the weekend as the wind cooperates.
🎁 And don’t forget the giveaways! We still have a TON of prizes and giveaways happening at Fly It Port A Kite Shop all weekend. Stop by the store at 405 W Ave G, say hi, check out the kites, and see what you might win.
Weather and wind can be unpredictable, but that’s part of kite flying. We’re staying hopeful, keeping an eye on conditions, and looking forward to seeing everyone in Port A.
We’ll see you on the beach when the wind and tides says it’s time to fly. 🪁🌊
