🦠 Sometimes the mold you SEE isn’t the mold you need to worry about… 👀

We were originally called out to investigate some dark-looking areas on the subfloor. What looked like it might be a fairly straightforward inspection quickly turned into something much more involved.

Once we started opening up the affected areas, we discovered multiple locations with visible microbial growth, saturated drywall, wet insulation, and moisture hidden inside wall cavities and around the subfloor.

Basically… the house decided to keep a few secrets. We’re pretty good at finding those. 😂🔎

This is exactly why proper moisture investigation is so important. Water doesn’t always stay where you can see it. It can travel underneath flooring, behind drywall, into insulation, and through framing cavities—creating conditions for microbial growth long before a homeowner realizes there’s a problem.

The project is still underway, but we’re systematically identifying the affected materials, removing what cannot be properly restored, cleaning and treating salvageable structural materials, and addressing the moisture conditions so we’re not simply covering up the problem.

Our clients have been extremely impressed—and relieved—that we were able to uncover and tackle several issues they didn’t even know were there.

🚨 Emergency Water Loss → Mold Remediation 🚨

What started as an emergency water loss quickly turned into a much more involved mold remediation project.

At first glance, this job may look straightforward—but there’s a LOT more happening behind the walls and underneath this home than you can see in a single photo.

Our team at ShepCo Restore is taking the necessary steps to make sure this project is handled properly from start to finish. We’re working with the homeowner’s insurance carrier to obtain the necessary approvals and coordinating with an independent Indoor Air Quality/Mold Assessor to develop the proper remediation protocol.

The scope of this project extends beyond simply removing damaged drywall. It includes shower removal to access concealed impacted materials, cleaning and remediation of the subfloor, crawlspace work, removal of wet/mold-impacted insulation and v***r barrier, and detailed cleaning of the underside of the subfloor and structural framing/joists.

The goal isn’t just to remove what you can see—it’s to address all affected areas, including hidden spaces where moisture and microbial growth can easily be overlooked.

Proper remediation takes planning, containment, documentation, coordination, and attention to detail. We want our clients to know that when we’re finished, the job was handled the right way—not just the easy way.

Another Mold Remediation Project Completed by ShepCo Restore! 💪🏠

This home had been dealing with extreme and excessive humidity, which resulted in the exterior walls becoming heavily saturated and widespread microbial growth developing throughout the affected areas.

With mold remediation, removing affected materials is only part of the job. Proper preparation and containment are critical. Before demolition began, our team carefully built and sealed containment to isolate the work area from the rest of the home. When contaminated materials are being disturbed, a poorly sealed containment can allow dust and microscopic particles to migrate into areas that were never affected in the first place.

We take our prep work seriously. Containment needs to be tight, properly sealed, and maintained throughout the remediation process. From protecting the home and contents to controlled demolition, HEPA filtration, HEPA vacuuming, detailed cleaning, and treatment of the exposed structure, every step matters.

Once the affected materials were removed, we were able to expose the wall cavities and framing and properly address the affected areas rather than simply covering up the problem.

This project required much more than a surface cleaning. Our team performed extensive remediation throughout the building, including:

What started as an HVAC issue quickly turned into a major restoration project. The AC system froze over, and when it eventually thawed, the excess water caused significant damage throughout this room. Unfortunately, by the time the flooring was removed, extensive microbial growth had already developed behind the baseboards and inside the wall cavity.
