KC’s food scene has always been good, but I love seeing the rest of the country catch on.

From barbecue to cozy favorites and creative new concepts, local restaurants are landing on some pretty impressive national lists, and this is only a handful of them.

Basically, if you needed another excuse to eat your way around Kansas City, here it is.

Which one have you tried, and which one needs to go on your list?

This is one of those pricing strategies that sounds logical on paper: “Let’s start high. We can always negotiate down.”

The problem? You may lose potential buyers before there’s ever a chance to negotiate.

Buyers are comparing your home to everything else available in that price range. If the value doesn’t feel right, they often skip your home altogether. Fewer interested buyers usually means less negotiating power, not more.

The goal isn’t to leave room to negotiate. It’s to price strategically enough to get the right buyers through the door.

This is one of my favorite pieces of Kansas City history. 🎡

Long before Disneyland opened, Electric Park was drawing crowds in KC with thousands of electric lights, rides, live entertainment, beautifully landscaped grounds, and even nightly fireworks.

Walt Disney experienced Electric Park during his years here, and many believe this local landmark helped shape the vision he later brought to Disneyland.

And KC hasn’t forgotten it. J. Rieger & Co. now pays tribute to Electric Park with an outdoor bar and gathering space inspired by the amusement park that once stood nearby.

This is such a local real estate nerd fact, and I love it.

The Kansas City Shirtwaist became popular here in the early 1900s, and once you know what to look for, you’ll start spotting them everywhere.

What makes them distinctive? The “shirtwaist” look comes from the contrast between the home’s heavy brick or locally quarried limestone lower level and lighter siding or stucco above. Add a big front porch, 2½ stories, steep rooflines and lots of Craftsman-era character, and you’ve got a KC classic.

They’re especially common throughout some of our older Midtown neighborhoods.

Chiefs football is BACK, which means it’s time to settle an important debate.

Are you happiest in the middle of the Arrowhead chaos? At a bar where every TV is on the game? Surrounded by friends and way too much food? Or are you firmly in the “please don’t talk to me while the Chiefs are playing” camp on your own couch?

Fall decorating doesn’t have to mean pumpkins on every surface. 🍂

I’m much more into the little swaps that make a home feel like fall: warmer lighting, richer textures, natural wood and woven pieces, a few seasonal stems, and cozy throws you actually want to use.

The best part? Most of these can transition right into winter without redecorating your entire house.

Kansas City may be famous for BBQ, but if you haven’t explored our taco scene, you’re missing out.

We’ve got two pretty iconic ways to eat your way around KC: follow the BBQ trail for burnt ends, ribs, and all the classics, or head to KCK and start working your way through the Taco Trail.

Personally, I don’t think you should have to choose.

But if you could only pick one KC food trail for the weekend, are you going BBQ or tacos?

There are plenty of things technology has made easier. But when it comes to understanding what your home is actually worth, there’s still no substitute for a real person who knows the market.
