POV: you JUST find out you’re PCSing to Maryland… now what?

It’s time to get an exit strategy together at your current base and start researching your new duty station/base (JBA, JBAB, Pentagon, Indian Head, Navy Yard, Pax Naval Base, Fort Meade, etc)

While you wait for hard orders, here are some things you can do in the meantime -
✨ figure out HOW you’re going to move… DITY or TMO?
✨ join ALL the local Facebook groups - research topics in the groups, ask questions, make new connections.
✨ figure out WHERE you’re going to move. Are you moving on base? What does on base housing look like? Maybe off base is a better option for you… are you renting or buying? Do you need temporary housing while you look for a rental or purchase? Make sure to turn to a trusted source to help with this and walk through your options!
✨ Schools. If you have children in school - look up Great Schools website to research schools in different areas.
✨ If you do decide to move off base… LOCATION is key. Connect with a trusted real estate professional to help guide you. Whether you’re buying or renting - this is important to do research on! If you’re looking for recommendations for a trusted real estate professional, mortgage lender, etc - interview! Do research beyond just recommendations. There are A LOT of predatory practices out there.. be aware & take the time to ask questions!
