More affordable housing is on its way to Charlotte County

"Charlotte County commissioners approved a $340,000 Local Government Area of Opportunity loan for Coconut Grove-based Housing Trust Group’s proposed Murdock Square development, an 88-unit affordable housing project on Veterans Boulevard in Port Charlotte. But county officials said it represents only a small step toward addressing a severe housing shortage.

The commission approved the loan at its July 28 meeting following a recommendation from the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee." --Gulfshore Business

Interesting happenings at Westport

“Developers of West Port in Charlotte County announced a major eastward expansion of the master-planned community that will add 423 new homes across 180 acres.

The expansion also includes regional infrastructure improvements and a major retail center anchored by a Publix grocery store that is scheduled to open in late 2027.

Fronting State Road 776, the shopping plaza will mark the entrance to the new phase. Adjacent land is planned for future restaurants, neighborhood retail, a fitness center and mixed-use development.” — Gulfshore Business

On every transaction in the State of Florida we pay doc stamps on mortgage and deeds. But, did you know at one point the doc stamps were physical stamps that were placed on the document entered into the p***c official records?

Check out the deed I came across this morning, it’s from 1967 while doing research.
