📈 Mortgage Market Update | What’s Happening With Rates?

If you’ve been wondering why mortgage rates haven’t dropped as much as everyone hoped, here’s the quick version:

• Inflation is still a concern. The Federal Reserve wants to see more progress before becoming comfortable lowering rates.

• Mortgage rates are still being pressured by the bond market. Even though the Fed gets most of the attention, mortgage rates are influenced more directly by what’s happening with longer-term bonds.

• The economy is slowing, but it’s not falling apart. Job growth has cooled and consumers are feeling higher costs, but the job market is still relatively stable.

• Friday’s jobs report could be important. The market will be watching closely to see whether the economy is cooling enough to give the Fed more room to lower rates.

🏠 So what does this mean if you’re buying a home?

Right now, there isn't a clear signal that mortgage rates are about to make a major drop.

That doesn’t necessarily mean you should wait.

If you find the right home and the payment fits your budget, there are strategies available today. And if rates improve significantly in the future, refinancing may be an option.

The biggest takeaway?
