Many of you know that my husband, Kris, and I are both from Livonia! So, Livonia friends and family, what do you think of this proposal?
A Livonia Built Bond Proposal was unanimously approved last night by City Council. This gives residents the opportunity to decide at the polls on Aug. 5 if they wish to make an investment in solving two important problems: outdated municipal buildings and a declining population. The bond seeks to bring a new police station, new library, expanded and renovated fire stations, a new central gathering space and plaza, and a new walking and biking loop to Five Mile and Farmington Roads. It prioritizes investment in Livonia’s safety, children and future — attracting police officers and firefighters by giving them state-of-the-art buildings and equipment, keeping families and businesses in the community by establishing a special community space, and potentially bringing in new entrepreneurs and residents for generations to come. The $150 million bond proposal would be paid over 25 years, costing the average homeowner less than $12 per month.
This proposal does NOT include mixed-use restaurants, shopping or townhouses and would NOT use taxpayer funding for construction of those structures.
