10 things we’ve learned from running a short term rental for a couple years:

1. It is not a form of passive income.
2. You are running a full blown hospitality business, and you better make sure it’s ran efficiently with systems in place.
3. To some people your home will be the greatest place on earth, to others it will be a “turd” 😆
4. Be understanding and as accommodating as possible to guests requests, but be firm in your rules and expectations.
5. Don’t be afraid of receiving a bad review when you hold your guests accountable for damages they have done.
5. It feels unbelievably great to provide a space for families that they can capture memories for a life time.
6. The instant gratification you receive from a great review is unmatched.
7. A vacation home that pays for itself is a beautiful thing.
8. Your cleaners are vital, vet them well, pay them well.
9. The smarter your home the more efficiently it can be ran. At least have a programmable smart lock.
10. Don’t feel guilty enjoying it yourself! 🌞 đŸš€

With the high interest rates and very low inventory we quietly sit and wait. We will be back, but a good friend once said “if they don’t know you, they can’t flow you.”
