I have to admit, I love it when an old friend becomes a client. Anna and I worked together for a couple of years in the 2010s. When she called me about two months ago, I had no idea the call would be about selling her mother’s house - her childhood home. But here we are, having recently closed on the sale less than two weeks after the house hit the market. With multiple offers to choose from, the sweetest part of it all was that, even in this shifting market, we negotiated with the buyer to accept a cash offer at $12K over the listing price!

The look on her face says it all. I met Jen through a colleague in April, and was given a laundry list of things that her next home must have. Honestly, I love it when clients are particular; it narrows the field to only a few select houses that will fit the bill and prevents any time from being wasted. We saw a small number of homes, and put in a couple of offers, but were beat out twice by some ridiculously competitive offers in a tough market for buyers. As the adage goes, though, the third time was the charm, and Jen found an absolute charmer right here in Royal Oak! She knew exactly what she wanted, and was smart, organized, and patient throughout the process - you know, the ideal client! Congrats Jen, and I’m so glad we get to keep you in Royal Oak! Many thanks to Stacey Kirby from Legacy Title for helping see that this transaction happened on time and the closing ran smoothly!

Kermit and Pat made a decision at the beginning of March that it was time to find a condo and downsize. They had an offer accepted at the start of April, and now at the beginning of May have closed on a wonderful new place to call home! Their daughter Kristen was there every step of the way, and everyone was breathing sighs of relief at a quick and smooth process. You’ll see my sign in front of their house in Grosse Pointe Woods soon!

I’m not of a mind to share private matters on a professional page, but something that’s really hit my heart happened over the weekend, and I’m hoping that social media might help remedy this situation.

Getting to the point, Some clients who recently purchased a home were cleaning out their garage and found… an urn. With someone’s ashes inside.

I’m asking anyone reading this to share this info in hopes of reuniting this individual with their family. Here’s what I have, taken directly from a form that was inside the urn:

Next of Kin - Caroline Ware
Address - 2###X Seyburn Ave., Warren, MI
Date of Death - 4/19/2010
Date of Birth - 9/21/1964
Date of Cremation - 4/26/2010
Place of Death - Wayne County, Detroit
Cause of Death - Pending
Funeral Director- Rudy Funeral Home
Cremation Handled by -
Meadowcrest Memorial Cemetery & Crematorium

I’ve contacted the funeral home that handled this person, the Macomb County Register of Deeds, and the Title Insurance Company that last handled a transaction for what I believe might be this person’s family. I’m pursuing every possible avenue.
