🌴That one time I made a dream come true. 🏝️
Thank you to Laura and her family for being such a huge part of the security and opportunity that made it possible. Oahu was home for a year. Because of that year, I built stronger friendships (Laura, Erin), met incredible new friends (Carol, Craig, Crystal, Frankie, Lia, and everyone at Captain Bruce Tours), and got to experience jobs I never expected, but that meant so much to me.

From managing the staff at the number one luau at the time at Sea Life Park—where my very first night included homemade kava shared from a big bucket with all of the dancers—to one of the most fun jobs ever: helping my boss Mickey prepare charcuterie boards for private yacht tours and making food for the staff out in Kaneohe Bay.

When I’m stressed or something feels impossible, I close my eyes and picture those big green mountains along H3…sometimes, early in the morning, I was the only person on the road, had the whole freeway to myself on the island. Somehow that open freeway always felt like a quiet reminder that I was going to be okay. 💖
