* The Future Perfect on Sacramento Street. One of my favorite stops for collectible design, statement furniture, and pieces you won’t see everywhere else.
* Heidi Says on Fillmore Street. A beautifully edited local boutique for fashion that feels polished without trying too hard.
* The Bud Shop in Cow Hollow. My go-to for fresh flowers when a home needs that final finishing touch.

The Harvest Table at Somerston Estate alone is worth the drive to Napa — and it’s not even the first event I’d put on your fall calendar.

Every fall I get the same question from people moving to San Francisco: once summer ends, what is actually worth putting on the calendar?

Start with the Rolex Big Boat Series at St. Francis Yacht Club. World-class sailing on the Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge as the backdrop, and one of those quintessential San Francisco weekends that reminds you just how special it is to live here.

Then there’s the San Francisco Fall Show at Fort Mason — one of my favorite events of the season for art, antiques, interiors, jewelry and incredible design. As an interior designer, this one is especially high on my list.

For a weekend in w**e country, book the Harvest Table at Somerston Estate in St. Helena. Think a long vineyard lunch, seasonal food, estate w**es and a behind-the-scenes look at harvest while it’s actually happening.

And for something a little more elevated, make a reservation for the Auro W**e Dinner Series at Four Seasons Resort Napa Valley — six-course dinners paired with some of Napa’s most celebrated w**es, including Quintessa and Hundred Acre.

This is my kind of fall in Northern California: a little sailing, a little design, a long lunch in the vineyards and a very good bottle of Cabernet.

If you’re moving from New York to San Francisco, or you’ve lived in NYC and are trying to figure out which San Francisco neighborhood will feel most like you, this is where I’d start.

Upper East Side → Presidio Heights.
Greenwich Village→ Pacific Heights
West Village → Cow Hollow.
Brooklyn Heights → Russian Hill.
SoHo → Hayes Valley.

They’re not exact copies, and that’s the point. After living in San Francisco for 26 years in San Francisco, I know people don’t just choose a neighborhood for the architecture — they choose it for the lifestyle they have living there. It’s the restaurants, the walkability, the views, and the way it feels when you come home.
