🏡 Are you wondering why thousands of Zillow listings in our area suddenly disappeared? Here’s what’s happening:
📅 On May 20, 2026, Zillow lost access to listings from Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) as part of an ongoing legal dispute involving Zillow, MRED, and Compass.
🔒 The issue centers around “private listings” — properties shared within private real estate networks that may not appear on public websites. In 2025, Zillow introduced policies limiting the display of listings marketed behind paywalls or agent-only portals, stating the move was intended to promote transparency and broader consumer access.
📢 MRED expanded its private listing network nationwide in 2026 and announced protections for agents using those networks. Zillow then filed a lawsuit alleging antitrust violations related to withholding listings from the public marketplace.
📉 As a result, more than 43,000 listings are currently not appearing on Zillow or Trulia.
🤝 While this situation is frustrating for buyers, sellers still have the right to choose how their homes are marketed, including through private listing networks if that best fits their needs.
✅ The good news: homes are still available. If you’re searching for a property, connect with a local agent or use additional platforms like Redfin or Realtor.com to make sure you’re seeing all available options.
